I Am Black (Poem)
Written. Arranged and Choreographed by Poet Kelly Harris. This poem was written for her daughter, Naomi. Her daughter was being tripped by a white child at a storytime at a library and the parent wouldn't do anything about it. Poet Kelly Harris wrote this so her daughter could recite the poem as a self-affirmation. Also poet Kelly Harris believes it is important to write poems people can recite. Filmed by Gian Smith in New Orleans.
